Worship and Spirituality

St James' Lanehead Church of England Primary School.

We are members of the Burnley Faith Centre and proud to be part of The Blackburn Diocese.

At Christmas time we enjoy collaboration with the other faith schools and churches in the local area and take part in the Burnley Football Community Churches Together Carol Concert.

Our vision and values team are a group of children who range from years 1 to 6, they  often lead worship with the help of Mrs Towriess.

The children have planned and led the Harvest Festival and the Christmas Story. They  have successfully achieved their Bronze worship works awards and are now working towards their Silver worship awards for 2017.

This school year  we are working towards the Bishop's Award.

Below are some of the Christian Values and Christian Character education that  the children are enjoying sharing with others.

The Bethany Family

On Tuesday 11th October our school welcomed the Bethany Children. They were inspirational. They raised the roof with their brilliant singing voices and taught us how to live life as a Christian and be thankful. Their smiles were infectious, the children carried out an act of worship and later played and ate their lunch with us all.

Each month the children in Key Stage 2 will be taking part on the Bishop of Lancaster's Bible challenge. The children in the Vision and Values group will be the challenge checkers. For more information please visit the Board of Education website.

Worship 2017-2018

We are busy planning the worship for 2017-2018. The Gospel verses will be shared with all the children and families. Families will be able to support their children through the home school values sheets which will be available each half term.

The Vision and Values group alongside Mrs Towriess and Miss Stott will plan worships throughout the year for the children and staff to attend.

Each class will lead a worship throughout the year where their parents will be invited to attend.

Father Graham will be coming into school to lead worship on a termly basis for Key Stage 2 pupils initially and in the Summer term Key Stage 1 will be invited to attend. The Year 6 pupils will continue to attend Eucharist at St James' Church on a half termly basis.

Together we have planned the worship and the children will be learning about the church year. He will also be carrying out an Easter Eucharist for KS2 in school. Dates will be on the school newsletter as usual.

We will also be inviting other visitors into school to speak to the children such as members of the Burnley Faith centre.

As always the children will take part in our own daily excellent acts of worship by many staff members. As always our worships will be evaluated.
