Curriculum Enhancement

Ancient Egyptians Day

We learnt more about some of the famous Ancient gods and hieroglyphics - and wrote some of our own. We created a timeline which helped us to gain some chronological understanding. The children tried on clothes and played games. They then learnt about hieroglyphs and wrote their own. They learnt about the ritual carried out after someone died, and designed and made their own clay shabti.

Church Visit

Sycamore and Hawthorn classes walked to church. We learnt more about Lent and why it's so important to Christians. We also learnt more about the Easter story.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Last week, we were lucky enough to go on a visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This half term we are learning about the history of the leisure industry so this was a perfect visit to get us started. When we arrived, we went straight to the classroom where we learnt about the history of Blackpool as a whole and about the Pleasure Beach. The knowledgeable guides told us about new rides like IKON which is the only ride not to be pulled by a chain. We then went on one of the oldest rides 'The Flying Machines!'. After that, we went on a train ride all around the park to look at behind the scenes of the park. On the way out, we saw Spongebob Square Pants!  Thank you very much to the amazing educational team at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, this has certainly got us ready for our learning!
