Our Classroom Under the Sky

We have been introduced to our Classroom Under the Sky. During our first session, we showed great interest in sticks! We learnt about the risks when playing with sticks and we learnt how to safely move when carrying/playing with sticks. Two children found a huge stick under the brambles so soon gathered a team together to pull the stick out. The group decided they wanted to build a den with this. Over the last few weeks, they have chipped away at building their den. It is a collaborative working progress! We continued our team-building activities by designing and creating a group shelter to keep us dry. This really tested our communication skills and we soon realised the importance and value of listening to each other. There were some fantastic team leaders who impressed all the teachers. Our biggest challenge so far was using the flint and steel to make a fairy fire with cotton wool! It really tested our patience and we discussed the zones of regulation, thinking about how it made us feel. The whole class persevered with this challenge, even though we found it hard! Nobody gave up! Well done Sycamore Class! We will continue to develop strategies to help us face any learning challenge so that we can become the best we can be.
