Summer 1

 

 

Although it has been a short term, we have all worked extremely hard and completed a great amount of work with some exciting days thrown in for good measure.

 

In Year 1, we heard about some toys that had been left in the garden! We followed the journey of these toys and met a Hoctopize in the story 'Toys in Space' by Mini Grey. Following this, we wrote instructions to help plan a party should a Hoctopize be sad. We managed to cheer him up with is and our fabulous storytelling.

 

In Science, we have been learning about plants and the different types of trees in our local area. We have continued to learn about the seasons and how they change over the year. 

 

In Geography, we looked at different coastal resorts around the United Kingdom and what attracts people to visit them. We travelled to our nearest coastal town, looked at the buildings and had fun on the beach.

 

In Reception, we enjoyed reading and retelling the traditional tale Jack and the Beanstalk. We have written descriptive sentences including all the sounds we have learnt in our phonic lessons. We looked at plants around school and enjoyed using pencils, chalks and paints to create our own artwork. In Maths, we have been exploring numbers beyond 10. We can recognise, write and represent the number. We love using numicon and Lion Flip to deepen our understanding of number bonds.

 

There are many more highlights in Elm Class including reading bible stories in the old testament, Forest School and Trashion Fashion Week where we realised we are top designers and models!
