Lesson: English
Class: Willow Class Year: 2020 - 2021
Reading
In Willow class, we re-cap our phase 5 phonics and move onto learning spelling rules for reading and writing. Click on the links below to see the rules that we will be learning.
We are developing our reading fluency, and becoming confident readers, who can answer questions about what they have been reading.
To develop our love for reading, we enjoy reading spine at the end of every day. We read a wide range of books, and enjoy discussing what we have been reading.
To develop our vocabulary skills, we have been magpieing words from the texts we are reading. Sometimes, we struggle to understand what the words mean, so we have been learning to use a dictionary to help us find out the meaning and develop our understanding.
Writing
In Willow class, we work hard to develop our writing and handwriting. We continue to practise our cursive writing, completing handwriting practice, throughout the week, using multi-sensory techniques.
We develop our writing skills through our English topics. We begin by reading and exploring a text, before learning text type features which we can practise and embed into our own writing. In Year 2, we begin to use more adventurous vocabulary, varying sentence types and a wider range of punctuation.
