Autumn 2
|
EYFS |
Year 1 |
In Elm Class, we continued to work hard through the second part of Autumn term. We are so proud of how well everyone has followed our Calm School Code and embrace all areas of school life.. We have enjoyed such a great range of activities.
In Year 1, we read The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson and wrote our own version of the story. After lots of research, we found out all about owls and made our own information booklet. In Science, we learnt about animals, what offspring’ means and the survival needs of different species. In Geography, we learnt about where we live, explored maps and discovered what an aerial photo is.
In Reception, we have continued to learn lots of sounds and are now very good at identifying them and blending to read words. We looked at celebrations in a variety of cultures and read books linked to them. We are now beginning to write sentences that we can reread. In Maths, we have been looking at the composition of numbers and different ways they can be represented. In Science, we brought in photos from when we were babies. We looked at how we changed and ordered the photos.
There are many more highlights in Elm Class including our trip to Brockholes and our amazing nativities!
