Curriculum Enhancement
The North Pole Experience
On Tuesday 5th December, Rowan Class were fortunate enough to watch an amazing pantomime put on by the theatre group, Just Imagine, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all! After the show, the children were able to join in with four different workshop activities and received a participation certificate as well as a very special badge from Santa himself saying that they were on the nice list! We hope you enjoy these pictures as much as the children enjoyed the pantomime.

Marvellous History
Rowan Class were lucky enough to have Marvellous History come in to school and spend the whole day teaching us all about Anglo-Saxons! The children had a chance to act out their very own shield wall drill, explore the weapons and armour used by Anglo-Saxons, learn about everyday objects used by them, and even create their own clay rune of their name! We hope you enjoy these images as much as the children enjoyed their day!

International Women's Day
On March 8th we celebrated International Women’s Day. We linked this to the hashtag #letgirlsplay. We feel passionate about equal opportunities for girls to play football within school and therefore celebrated this at St James’ Lanehead. All of the girls, as well as the boys in class, thoroughly enjoyed this celebration of football and it was good to see everyone in class being active, supporting each other and working as part of a team. It also portrayed to the children within school how important equal opportunities in all of sports are. We look forward to celebrating this again next year!

World Book Day
For World Book Day this year, Rowan Class enjoyed listening to and learning about the story, The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame. We took part in a variety of activities, which included 'Toad's ridiculous relay race' and 'Ratty's picnic.'

Outdoor Elements Trip
On Tuesday 16th April, Rowan and Hazel Class were lucky enough to go on a trip to Outdoor Elements, where they had the amazing opportunity to take part in activities such as tree climbing, crate stacking, archery, problem solving and shelter building! The children were an absolute credit to the school, making sure to follow the Calm School Code and helping their friends by working together as a team to complete challenging activities. Both children and adults had a fantastic day and we hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed our trip!
